Most home sellers typically pay a six percent commission rate. For example, a seller would pay a commission of fifteen thousand dollars, on a home that sold for two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Now, with the Flat Fee MLS Program, a home seller only pays for the “listing portion” of the amount of the commission. This is typically only three percent of the final sales price of your home. With this type of program the homeseller only has to pay a flat fee when the home is listed.
The only time that the buyer’s agent receives a three percent commission is if the agent finds a buyer for your property. When the seller of the home procures a buyer, they then pay a zero percent commission.
